The theme of this past weekend’s Premier League fixtures was attack!
29 Goals were scored over the course of 10 matches. All of the top four contenders got the points when they needed, except for the struggling Gunners.
Arsenal were dominated and embarrassed on Monday night at Selhurst Park. Palace absolutely dismantled Arsene Wenger’s side and won the match three nil thanks to goals from Townsend, Cabaye and Milivojevic.
The Saturday matches saw Chelsea win 3-1 away to Bournemoth, Spurs beat Watford four nil at White Hart Lane, Liverpool won 2-1 against Stoke, and Manchester City thumped Hull 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
Sunday saw Manchester United win three nil at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland.
Sunday also saw the weekend’s highest scoring match as Leicester were defeated by Everton 4-2 at Goodison Park. Tom Davies scored a well worked goal in the opening minute to put the Toffees in front. Islam Slimani finshed off a brilliant counter attack, led by Demerai Gray, to put the Foxes level. Leicester then took the lead on ten minutes when Albrighton’s free-kick flew into the top corner. Everton then leveled the scoring in the 23rd minute when Lukaku grabbed his customary Goodison Park goal. Before the end of the half, Everton’s pressure paid off again when Jagielka headed home to give Everton the lead again. Up 3-1 at halftime, Everton would cement the three points on 57 minutes as Lukaku grabbed a second and Everton’s fourth.
That’s all we have after an eventful Premier League weekend. Tune in next week for the latest Premier League updates.
