Olivia Easly spoke to my Internet Communication class about her life after graduation from Appalachian State. She had lived in Utah and eventually made her way to her current home of Raleigh, North Carolina. Olivia said life in the capital of the state is on the up for her, as she works with a company that she loves. Although she thinks air purifiers may not be the most exciting products, she does the best she can to promote the product and make them exciting.

Olivia spoke about how she believes that networking is vital to having a successful life where ever you are. She had established professional connections in Utah during her time there, but when she came home to The Triangle (Raleigh-Durham area), she had a hard time finding opportunities for herself because she did not have professional connections locally. She joined a public relations group in Raleigh and made connections through the group and eventually landed her current position with Novaerus.

This idea of connecting reigns true with football player agents. The online realm allows for wider connections to be made. Linkedin is a popular networking site that allows people from all industries to connect with each other. Football agents are common sight on Linkedin, looking for players and for clubs that want to take the players they currently have on trial or as a contracted player.

Making valuable connections and networking is so vitally important in many career fields. I myself have to try and make as many connections as possible, with trying to start my career in sports broadcasting. If I want to cover the biggest matches in the world some day, then I have to start connecting with people right now. Making sure that I connect with people who are experienced in the industry is key. Networking is what may land me a job one day.
