Designer Football
Matthew Marco and Ceci Dadisman both emphasized the importance of placement and other intentional elements of web design in their lectures to my Internet Communication class recently. The target audience wants to be able to navigate a site efficiently in order to gain information. The process of making that goal a reality, requires the careful placement of images and text in a format that allows the viewer to obtain the information fast and efficiently.
Much like these ideas about Web Design, football is very similar in the way that managers or clubs instill a style of play within their team. You look at managers like Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp and you see how they implement their free-flowing, attacking style with different methods in training. They train the players to focus on attacking and pressing the ball. The training drills and practice are the details that create the end goal of attacking football. Not only does this usually result in high scoring, but it also creates a sense of excitement for the fans. Supporters want to see their team win and perform well. They want to be entertained and feel like they witnessed the show; much like website viewers want to feel like they know something after viewing a webpage.
